I was born in Prague. I first learned about what music and theatre can mean as a member of “Kuhn childrens’ choir” during shows at the National Theatre and in rehearsals and concerts with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Maybe it was through the atmosphere of the theatre or the influence of a conductor that I determined to become a musician.

I studied both singing and conducting at the Prague Music Conservatoire and then continued at the University of Music in Bucharest in Romania. I worked for some time as a soloist at the Opera and at the same time as a concert conductor. I was also able to get experience as a Theatre Director.

In 1992, at the invitation of professor W.D.Ludwig, I moved to Gorlitz to take up a position as conductor of The EUROPERA Project in the Music School there. I was involved in the foundation of the EUROPERA Jugendorchester and I am very pleased that the orchestra has survived and flourished through all of the economic and political changes over the last few years.

I have now been asked to to become the artistic director of the orchestra and to prepare a concert season programme for the next five years, a task which I am very pleased to accept as I can feel that the orchestra and its management has a real sense of worth and direction. And also, it is a wonderful thing to work with new talent. I shall be working with my friend, Dalibor Tuz, who will help me and the orchestra with the not-so-simple organization of our rehearsals and concert schedules. So let’s begin.
